High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of heart disease. People with high blood pressure are at greater risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and even death. It is estimated that 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. has high blood pressure and many are unaware or undertreated because there are often no symptoms. If high blood pressure is noted through our screening process, our providers can recommend an initial treatment plan.

Our providers are trained to provide screening, monitoring, and treatment for people with high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia). Cholesterol is a type of fat that your body needs to build healthy cells, and your liver produces all the cholesterol the body requires. However, you can also take in more cholesterol from food, such as from meats. Too much cholesterol in your system increases the risk of severe complications such as high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and stroke.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common and serious sleep disorder that causes you to slow down or stop breathing during sleep. The airway repeatedly becomes blocked, limiting the amount of oxygen that reaches your lungs, putting stress on your heart and body. Symptoms can include lack of energy, headaches, snoring, nighttime coughing, excessive daytime sleepiness and/or GI reflux. OSA can be controlled, which may reduce health risks. If your Adjuva Primary Care provider thinks you have OSA based on information you provide, she or he may prescribe a home sleep test, which you can take in the comfort of your own home. If medically appropriate, our providers can provide education, write a prescription for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, and help monitor your condition.
